Day-wise Itinerary
Day 1: Munnar Full Day Local Sightseeing
Day 1: Eravikulam, Tea Museum, Mattupetty and Echo Point
Your driver arrives at your hotel at 8:00 am. After breakfast, you reach Eravikulam National Park around 8:30 am, when the air is crisp and the crowds are thin. A forest shuttle takes you to the walking area, where the Nilgiri tahr is often seen on the grassy slopes. Allow about two hours. If the park is closed for the calving season, your driver will replace it with a tea-estate viewpoint.
At 11:00 am you visit the Tea Museum, where old machinery and photographs explain how tea is grown and processed. Taste fresh tea and pick up packets and homemade chocolates. By 12:15 pm you reach Mattupetty Dam, a calm reservoir ringed by tea estates. Walk along the edge, and take a boat ride if you like.
At 1:00 pm you stop at Echo Point for a quick, fun break, followed by lunch around 1:30 pm at a local restaurant. At 3:00 pm you drive towards Kundala, passing tea slopes and a scenic lake. Spend about an hour here, with a chai stop on the way back.
By 5:00 pm you return to Munnar for shopping in the local market, picking up spices, tea and coffee. By 6:00 pm you are back at your stay for a relaxed dinner and rest. Overnight in Munnar.
Day 2: Top Station, Waterfalls and Viewpoints
After breakfast, you leave at 8:00 am for Top Station, one of the highest viewpoints in the region. The drive takes a little over an hour, with plenty of photo stops. If the sky is clear, the ridge views are wide and memorable. Mist can roll in quickly, so keep a jacket handy. Spend about 45 minutes here.
At 10:30 am you stop at Lockhart Gap, a scenic viewpoint on the hill road, and at 11:30 am you visit Attukal Waterfalls, set among tea and cardamom hills. Flow depends on the season, being strongest after the monsoon.
Lunch is at 1:00 pm. At 2:30 pm you visit Lakkam Waterfalls on the road towards Marayoor, then continue to the Pothamedu viewpoint around 4:00 pm for sweeping views over the tea country. Depending on your energy, we can swap in a spice garden or a tea-estate walk.
By 5:30 pm you return to Munnar. Your driver drops you at your hotel by 6:00 pm, or at the bus stand or a restaurant of your choice. If you are leaving for another destination, tell us in advance and we will adjust the schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is one day enough for Munnar local sightseeing?
One day covers the main spots, but the roads are slow and winding. Two days lets you see waterfalls and viewpoints at an easy pace, without rushing.
2. Is Eravikulam National Park always open?
No. The park closes for several weeks each year during the calving season, and dates are decided by the forest department. We check status for your dates and suggest alternatives if needed.
3. Is this plan suitable for families and senior citizens?
Yes. Drives are manageable, and the private cab allows rest stops. Boating and waterfall walks are optional, and seniors can skip any stop that involves steps.
4. Are entry tickets, meals and activities included?
These are generally paid directly unless your booking says otherwise. Please confirm exact inclusions with our team while booking.
5. What is the best time for Munnar sightseeing?
September to March offers cool weather and clear views. The monsoon (June to August) is lush, though rain, fog and slippery roads can limit some viewpoints.
6. Can the itinerary be customised?
Yes. You can add Marayoor, Chinnar, Anayirankal Dam or a spice garden, or swap spots depending on weather, season and your interests.

Munnar Local Sightseeing โ Travel Guide
Munnar Local Sightseeing: Plan Your Tea Hills Trip
Munnar is one of the most loved hill stations in South India, and a well-planned Munnar local sightseeing trip is the best way to enjoy it. The town sits among rolling tea estates in the Western Ghats, with waterfalls, dams, viewpoints and wildlife areas scattered across the district. Because the roads are steep and winding, distances take longer than expected, so a good plan and a good driver matter a lot.
Why two days is better than one
Many visitors try to fit everything into a single day and end up tired and rushed. Munnar's attractions lie in different directions: Eravikulam and the Tea Museum near the town, Mattupetty and Echo Point on one road, and Kundala, Top Station and the waterfalls on others. With two days, you group them sensibly, leave time for photographs and avoid driving in poor light. This Munnar 2 day tour gives you that balance.
What the sightseeing covers
Day one takes in Eravikulam National Park, the Tea Museum, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and the drive towards Kundala. Day two goes to Top Station, Attukal and Lakkam waterfalls, Lockhart Gap and the Pothamedu viewpoint, with room for a tea-estate walk or spice garden. Along the way, you can try fresh tea, homemade chocolates, cardamom and local snacks.
Why choose a Munnar sightseeing taxi
A Munnar sightseeing taxi is the most flexible way to explore. You can stop where the view is good, spend longer at places you love and skip those you do not. It also saves you from negotiating at each stop and from waiting for buses that run only on limited routes. Our drivers know the hill roads and can suggest the best timing for each place, since fog and rain can change visibility quickly.
Tea, tahr and tall views
Munnar is not only about scenery. At the Tea Museum, you learn how a leaf becomes the tea in your cup. At Eravikulam, you may see the Nilgiri tahr, a mountain goat found in the high ranges of the Western Ghats. At Top Station, the ridge views can stretch far across the border on a clear day. These layers make the trip feel richer than a simple photo tour.
Great for families, couples and groups
Families travelling with children or senior citizens appreciate a plan with short, manageable drives and easy stops. If you are searching for a Munnar family sightseeing plan, the private cab format lets you take rest breaks and adjust timings. Couples can ask for quieter viewpoints and sunset spots. Friends travelling together can share the cab and split the cost.
Best time to visit Munnar
September to March offers cool weather and clear views. December and January can be cold in the early mornings. April and May are warmer but pleasant. The monsoon from June to August makes the hills lush and green, but heavy rain, fog and landslide-prone patches can slow the roads and limit viewpoints. Keep your schedule flexible and check weather updates before you travel.
Practical tips from our team
Start early, since mornings are usually clearer and less crowded. Carry a light jacket, comfortable shoes and a rain layer. Keep some cash for small entry fees, parking and snacks. Eravikulam closes seasonally for calving, so check status before you plan. Boating and waterfall access can vary with rain, so confirm with your driver on the day. Avoid plastic and never feed wild animals.
Book with Wonder India Cab Trip Zone
We focus on punctual pickups, clean cabs and courteous drivers who know Munnar's roads. Whether you need a half-day outing, a full-day tour or this 2-day plan, we will shape it around your group and pace. Want to add Marayoor, Chinnar or a night in Thekkady? Just ask.
