Pune to Shirdi: Distance, Travel Time and Cab Tips
Shirdi is one of the most visited pilgrimage towns from Pune, and a private cab is the easiest way to reach it with family or elders. Here is what to know before you plan the trip.
How far is Shirdi from Pune?
The road distance from Pune to Shirdi is roughly 185 km. Most cabs take the Pune–Ahmednagar–Shirdi route. Depending on traffic, the drive usually takes about 4.5 to 5.5 hours one way.
Can you do Shirdi in one day from Pune?
Yes. A one-day trip works well if you leave Pune very early (around 4–5 AM), reach Shirdi by mid-morning and start the return in the late afternoon. On Thursdays, Sundays, weekends, festivals and long weekends the darshan queue can be much longer, so keep extra time in hand. If you want a relaxed darshan, a one-night stay is more comfortable than a rushed day trip.
Tips for a smooth Pune to Shirdi cab trip
- Start early to avoid traffic on the Pune–Ahmednagar stretch.
- Decide the cab type by group size: a sedan for a small family, an Ertiga or Innova for larger groups.
- Keep a valid photo ID for every traveller; some darshan and stay arrangements ask for it.
- Check the temple's current darshan, aarti and dress guidelines on the official Shri Saibaba Sansthan channels before you leave.
- Tell your driver your preferred stops for meals and rest breaks.
